Explanation guide with pictures

Step 1

Use the following ingredients for the sauce:

200 ml mayonnaisse, 2 tablespoons piccalilly, 1 tablespoon mustard, a pinch of garlic powder, paprika powder and onion powder and a tablespoon of white wine vinegar.

Put everything together and stir well. Season with some salt and pepper.

Step 2

Shred an onion.

Take the ground beef and break 1 egg and add together. Then 2 tablespoons of your favorite rub. We use beef rub but pork rubs are also fine. They are often a bit sweeter. Mix the ground beef well and then form 4 equal sized hamburgers. Make them slightly larger than your sandwiches because they shrink on the BBQ.

Step 3

Light the BBQ and let it get hot. The charcoal must glow. Preferably use a cast iron grid for nice grill stripes. Place the hamburgers on the hottest part of the grill. Turn them over after 2 minutes. Watch out for too many flames. You do not want blackened burgers. 30 seconds before you remove them from the heat, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each burger.

Step 4

Take the hamburger buns and cut them in half. Then grill them briefly on the BBQ, no more than 20 seconds.

Step 5

Start with the bottom of the bun. Put some lettuce on it. Then some chopped onion. Then a tablespoon of sauce and spread this a little bit. Then put the hamburger on top and finish with the top of the bun. Enjoy your burger!
